005 - Full kit list

Well, in my first post I said I would do a full kit list and well, here it is.
Sorry for the poor quality phone pic.

Sony A200 body
10.2mp entry level SLR from Sony, incredibly easy to use and has been my primary camera since august 2008. At around £300 I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into the world of DSLR's.

Sony 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens
The standard kit lens bundled with the A100 - A350. This is great as a starter lens however wide open it can be a little soft.

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro
At around £120 this is an excellent lens in terms of value for money, it provides sharp images throughout the zoom range and shows great DOF.

Cokin P121m, P121s, P153
These again are great value for money, along with the adapter ring and filter holder I paid £60. They can be used in many different situations, giving great effects.

Fujifilm S5700/S700
As my primary camera from late july 2007 to august 2008, this is a great solution for people shooting on a budget. An incredible zoom range and a huge range of accessories make this an excellent buy.

Not Pictured

Sony 50mm f/1.4
This is a great standard lens, providing a wide aperture perfect for low light situations, shooting wide open can produce some soft edges however stopping down to around 2.5-4 will give sharp images almost every time.

Lowepro slingshot 300AW
Larger than the 100 and 200, the slingshot 300 gives plenty of room for any kit, including pouches for memory cards and cleaning equipment.

003 - Archive Post - Hot Rod Drags 2008

Just pulling up some old images from last year for your enjoyment. :)

The Hot Rod Drags weekend was a perfect weekend for weather, it was dry all weekend, which meant lots of racing and of course for the ones that wanted, showing of thier cars. Unfortunately, we turned up to this.

Which was fun to set a tent up in and at least find some dry ground to sleep on.

As this was our first year at the Hot Rod Drags, I was excited to be there, and soon enough the smell of race fuel and rubber filled the air.

The weekend saw Andy Frost running some decent times in Red Victor 2.

Taz Racing also had their fair share of good runs.

Fires happened in the start-up lane...

...and the cars that were showing looked good.

A good team effort... :)

...and a good turnout too.

All I can say is this was a great weekend and I hope to do it again. Don't forget to check out Jay's flickr gallery for more images from the event.

001 - A quick intro.

Well, I'm new to this so a quick introduction is in order I think.

I'm Jay, a 16 year old mechanics student from West sussex, England.
As well as cars, I'm also interested in photography, which as some may have guessed is what I will be using this for. I currently use a Sony A200 with the standard 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens, sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 and Sony 50mm f1.4. Full kit list coming soon.
